Educational Dance

Inspiring Connections Through the Artistry of Dance

Lorraine White-Wilkinson

Inspired by the work of movement theorist Rudolf Laban and dance educator Virginia Tanner, Educational Dance furthers the philosophy of dance as a circular relationship between the exploration of movement and artistry, of understanding self and the world around us, and the resultant fertile ground for meaning making.  Using the elements of dance as a foundation, and movement for expressive purposes the intent, classes are structured to enhance social and emotional learning, while instilling the intrinsic joy of dance.  Ultimately, the goal of Educational Dance is to equip individuals with the ability to embrace an artistic way of being in the world. Through this holistic approach to dance education, students not only become skilled dancers but also develop a profound understanding of themselves, others, and the transformative potential of movement and art.
